Casting On Another |
Sunday, July 29, 2007 |
That's right. Another Calorimetry. I seem to love these things a little too much. At present though I can only knit little things. I have to get another set of circular needles for the bathing suit. I need more yarn for my bag. I have the yarn for socks but not the needles. -=giggle=- So a calorimetry it is. I figured I would make a black one that matched the poncho I am going to be wearing a lot in the fall.
Today was a nice day. I did a couple of things I wanted to do this morning. I started on the new HP book and made it to Chapter 7 before we had to leave for my mom's house. Her boyfriend is leaving for Afghanistan next Friday (he's a load master for the Air Force). So we thought we would go and see him before he leaves. We went to an awesome Mexican place and had a wonderful time. Tonight we rented True Crimes: Streets of NY (video game) for Grim and "The Covenant" for myself. Not a bad movie... for a teen magic movie. I mean the guys were total eye candy and they happened to have powers kind of movie. -=giggle=- I tend to like those cheesy movies though so I started the Calorimetry and watch it while Grim played on the computer.
Now I am taking a break from it to blog and possible dive back into the HP book. I don't know though. It's already 3 in the morning and if I start reading I doubt I'll stop. This wouldn't be a bad thing if we didn't have to go visit Grim's family tomorrow. It's alright though, HP will be accompanying me on the journey. -=giggle=-
Speaking of which, take a look at Death Eaters on this site. I WANT IT! I WANT IT! Okay I am done now.
I think that's about it really. I'll post pictures of the new Calorimetry when it's finished.
Night night all

My Calorimetry (for Catie) traveled with her to Germany, England and Ireland! She mentioned that she received a lot of compliments and that it saved her life in a couple of instances! I was very worried she wouldn't like it so the fact that she wore it so often is a huge compliment paid to me. -=smiles and does a dance=- Okay, that's really all now. Labels: Calorimetry, Catie |

I couldn't think up anything witty to write in the title block. Oh well, I hope the actual content will keep you entertained for a bit. -=giggle=- I posted Wed that I would write an update so I'll start from Wed and work my way up.
Wednesday - I applied for a loan with my local bank and I am praying to every god that I can think up to get it. We're not poor but we're definitely not financially sound either. I have some bills I seriously want to pay off and I am going to need the extra money if they drop my financial aid. I have a co-signer which helps. They processed my application as a single and it was rejected so we'll see what happens with the joint. It sucks really. I have had nothing to do with my credit getting ruined. I was in a car accident (as most of you know, I believe) in 2004/2005. It was a bad one. The lady jumped the gun at a stop sign and I T-Boned her. I was going the speed limit, it was just unavoidable considering when she pulled out in front of me. She ended up fine, I however had permanent back problems from the incident. Not to mention, the constant fear of airbags. When they were deployed on impact the bags ruptured and the chemicals got all over my arms. They felt like they were on fire and if they hadn't pulled me/helped me out of the car it probably would have burned me. Well anyways.. to the point. I had an attorney to file a suit. The attorney who was supposed to take care of my bills passed away in the middle of my case. So in the shuffle of the new attorney being assigned my bills were neglected and my credit suffered under the idea they were taken care of.
I can't fix them, all I can do is assign a notice of no fault to the incident. I rambled a bit sorry. I am still really nervous about it. Oh and that night we rolled of a new A&8's character in case mine gets killed.
Thursday - Not to much. Grim's family came over and we had dinner/conversation/WII playing.
Tonight - Did the usual work thing. Came home and took a nap. Pounce called and said she was ill and unable to RP tonight. So rather than hang out around the house, I suggested Date Night. We went out to Chinese Food, then went out to see Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. What an AWESOME movie. I can say this without spoiling it that they chopped the book to hell to keep it to pace but it was still unbelievable. Might I also mention that Daniel Radcliffe looks soooo handsome with short hair. I wasn't a fan of the last hairstyle. Oh! Oh! I called it when reading it! Let it be known, I knew who they were going to cast for Bellatrix!! Helena Bonham Carter, was the first person I thought of and the image I had in my head the entire time I read/listened to it. Only she would be able to pull off a woman like that! Curious question: Is it true they're not putting out anymore? I would hate to think they wouldn't finish it up. Oh by the way the poncho accompanied us on our date. It kept me quite warm and was very comfortable!
So on to other news. My Summer Stash Swap partner, Jennifer, loved the stuff I sent her. Which rocks! I was sooo nervous she might not like what I picked out. My stash isn't all that impressive so I just picked out what I thought she would like. Shannon's, my Summer Stash Swap Sender, package was awesome! Look at all the goodies!
Here's a shot of the beautiful handmade bracelet she made me!
I will probably be spending the rest of the evening on Get Stitchy and Ravelry. I have to admit Ravelry is pretty awesome. The pattern section alone is remarkable. You'll see soon enough. It goes by quick. On the knitting front, I am hanging back and searching out my patterns. A couple of other bloggers mentioned Christmas so I think I am going to start searching for others. The first thing on the needles for myself is the Zeeby's Bag from Stitch'N'Bitch.
Let's see... anything else? Oh. Pictures of the poncho are now under the finished section title name. Also, for the rest of the weekend, I have a picture to sum up what I am going to be doing.
Great weekend, Don't you think?

I've been tagged by Sacha's Nation Instructions: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot: 1. left-handed knitting in a world of right-handers 2. Fat Chick Crafts 3. Put a Sock in it 4. Sacha's Nation 5. My Little Piece of the Net Next, select five people to tag: - Hattie

As usual, if you don't feel like doing it I certainly won't cry about it. If you weren't tagged and still want to play, then consider yourself tagged. The whole tagging thing weirds me out; I don't want anyone to feel left out. (Nicely Put Sacha) What were you doing 10 years ago? I was 13 years old. I was heavily rebelling against any form of authority. I had dive bombed into a very rotten streak due to unpleasant circumstances. I don't recall the grade level I was in but I was probably getting in trouble for being late to school all the time. I was frequently seen hiding behind my long hair during conversations and wearing baggy jeans and Manson T-shirts. -=giggle=-
What were you doing one year ago? I was still new to the job I had just started. Other than that, the same that I am doing now. Enjoying life, love and everything.

I am on Ravelry! Wow it's amazing!! I haven't even added anything yet and it's still awesome. -=giggle=- Okay, so I found a couple of you. Could everyone leave their Ravelry names so I can add you ? I would appreciate it since I can't find where everyone mentioned their IDs. Or if you want to add me. My SN is Blcklace66. =) Valerie was taken.
Tonight rocks! Although I wish it would have come lastnight. Here I am all excited to play with it and I have to go to bed. -=pout=- Oh well there is always tomorrow!

Poncho is Fin! |
|
I did it! I did it! I finally finished the poncho that I have been working on forever! I have to sew in some of the loose ends but I seamed it up already! It looks really nice. Grim seems to think that I look like I am wearing chainmail though. -=giggle=- I may block it to stretch out the hood a little more. The pattern was a little crazy for the hood shaping so I improvised a little. Pictures to come tomorrow. My batteries are dead right now. Labels: Finished Project, Ponchos, WooHoo |

Socks and Yarn |
|
It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a easy knee high sock pattern. -=giggle=- I mean hell it's hard to even find a knee sock pattern that I like. Which is causing me a fit of frustration since I have pretty much glanced around for the better part of an hour. Any book suggestions or pattern thoughts?
On another note, aside from being frustrated about not finding a pattern, I am also a little upset. I was looking around for yarn in various areas of the net. All the good yarn stores everyone talks about are all WAY out of my price range to even browse through. Which sucks because I found more than a handful of yarn that I would kill to have but will probably never get the possibility of indulging in. -=giggle=- It's not like a really need anymore yarn but I like to see what all the fuss is about. The bloggers/Get Stitchy girls led me to Malabrigo so I trust their judgment on the wonderful yarn they have gracing their stash. Hopefully one day I'll get there. =P
On a happier note...
Pounce and I went out to see Grease lastnight at the playhouse right across the street. It was really well done. The props were impressive and far from amateur. For the most part all the actors/actresses were wonderful. There were some that went alittle out of pitch or their voices broke but other than that all went well. It was definitely better than the production I went to last year. Next year for their 20th anniversary they're putting on "West Side Story". I was thinking about auditioning or finding out when auditions are. I love the theater and I have always wanted to get my foot back in the door. We'll see if I do or do not do it. With school starting up again I might have to just wait for a while.
I believe that is all for now.
Tootles.

Progress and Boredom. |
Saturday, July 21, 2007 |
I have only been up for an hour and man, I am already starting to fidget. I hate mornings when I just wake up and need to do something. This means I'll probably end up cleaning my entire apartment in an hour. -=giggle=-
Anyways, I have finally started making progress on the poncho hood! -=does a dance=- After some trial and error I figured out how to continue. I am telling everyone know that the collar look totally amateur. The ribbing is all off and all that. Mainly because instead of picking up 62 stitches I picked up like 70-something ( I do not see how one can reasonably get all the way around while only picking up 60 stitches) and had to knit some of them together. So yea I really hope the hood comes out better than the collar did or else I might cry.
That's pretty much it for right now. I think I am going to go watch a movie and work on it some more or read more Dante.Labels: Bored, Dante, Poncho Goodness, Progress, Weekend |

Speaking of Ravelry |
Thursday, July 19, 2007 |
Yeah! I'm working my way closer!
- You signed up on June 2, 2007
- You are #6256 on the list.
- 239 people are ahead of you in line.
- 12358 people are behind you in line.
- 32% of the list has been invited so far
-=giggle=- Just thought I would check it out. Maybe I should start a count down to my invite arrival. I think that would be a little silly though. Sooo I'll just post about it every now and then. I hope it's as good as everyone says it is. I would hate to get all excited and be disappointed. Although I don't think they would have nearly 13,000 people signing up for something silly.
Okay, now I am really done.

Lining up the projects. |
|
So I have been flipping through magazines and books looking for new patterns I can try. The result is that I have found a bunch of things that I want to make soon. Here's the list that will probably only get bigger.
- Naughty Needles Bathing Suit
- Zeeby's Bag from Stitch'n'Bitch
- Boogie Time - A wristband watch pattern
- Still on the hunt for a simple knee-high sock pattern.
- An Enterlac Washcloth (I will make one dammit!)
I have also pulled out the poncho again as I believe I mentioned in my last post. I am still a little confused but I am going to work on it this weekend and see what happens. It's my first real wearable item so if it's botched -=shrugs=- I'll cry. -=giggle=- The library has a copy of "Fitted Knits" waiting for me so I am sure I'll find cute patterns in there as well. I have just been dying to try new things, broaden my horizons a bit.
Oh and by the way. Does anyone know how to successful make a ball out of a skein of yarn ?!?! I spent nearly 2 hours untangling the yarn Emily sent me. I know I did it wrong and knotted the hell out of it. Unfortunately that mean that 1 skein, turned into 4 balls because I couldn't get the damn thing to unravel correctly. Mishaps of a knitter, I suppose. In other news I have updated my reading blog again if you want to take a look.
I think that is about it really. Still waiting on the Ravelry invite (in the words of Hedwig) then again, aren't we all ?

Delayed Posting |
Wednesday, July 18, 2007 |
Sorry about my lack of posting lovelies. I have pretty much been coming home and hanging out and sleeping. So here is another catch up blog.
Saturday - Grim and I went to a double Birthday party for a couple of friends of ours. It was a lot of fun. I jumped into the pool fully clothed after Grim double dared me. I started it. -=giggle=- Pretty soon people were either in the pool fully clothed or in their underwear. I think two people maybe had swim suits. -=giggle=- It was an incredible time.
Sunday - My back was killing me so we stayed home. I got a couple more things done around the house.
Monday- Back to work for the day. That night Grim's parents came into town for a free concert right acrossed the street from us. (Sometimes it pays to live across from a park and theatre). So we went with them. I had never heard of the band so I was a little nervous about going. After being reassured by Grim that I would love them, I chilled out. I was just tired and cranky. Long work day and I tell him when he asks why I look miserable. He looks at me.. and says.. "Sleep when your dead." I don't know why it hit me so hard but it did. The Cat Empire came on and I was up in front dancing my damn tired arse through the entire set. They were wonderful! I mean fantastic! Reggae, Ska, Latin mix.. you can't go wrong with that! His words stuck with me though, Funny what will strike you and make you have a moment of complete clarity. I do spend too much of my time thinking about work the next day. I should go out and do things while I still can. Sleep be damned. It could also be the reason why I have been utterly exhausted lately. =P
Tuesday - Just a day. Worked, cleaned up a bit.
Wednesday - Went to work, Got a terrible stomach bug, Came home from work at 11 and slept until 3.
That covers the life section, now to the knitting.
I finished the last washcloth for the moms. I realize I said that the last blog but I decided to make one more. Then I picked up the old poncho that I have been avoiding for months on end now. I am actually to a place where I have no idea what to do so I am going to put it to the boards and see what they say about it. Speaking of the boards! I am running next months along! Lifetime of Learning! Come Join! Come Join!
I am thinking about other things I wanted to write about but Migraine Residue is blocking all important notes out of my head. I went to Emily's Etsy store and it's down for now. I am hoping to get a matching/complimentary color of yarn that works with the other one I bought from her. I was looking through Stitch 'n' Bitch last night and saw a bag I want to make with it.
Anyways, I'll probably think of more later but I am done for now. I am cutting into Grim's computer time.

Lots to catch up on. |
Thursday, July 12, 2007 |
Let me begin by first giving a much needed shout out to 4 ladies.
First to my Secret Pal, who has spoiled me rotten for the last three months. Elabeth, you are absolutely wonderful. Thank you for making my first swap perfect in every way!
Second, to my KTC Swap Partner, Athena Maria. Thank you soooo much for the Anita Blake book! I almost bought it when I was on vacation. I am glad I didn't. The bag is beautiful! The yarn is not scratchy at all and the stitch markers are wonderful. Seriously, they are the perfect size for the projects I am going to be working on! Here are pictures of the goodies!
Here's is a close up of the beautiful bag she made me!
Kiya liked it a little too much. I had to yell at her twice.
Next To Jane! I can't believe what beautiful things you sent me! I love everything you created for me and I want you to know that I appreciate them very much. You are a lovely person and thank you so much!
First off, the stickers are now all over my RPG folder. -=giggle=- I have a big smiley face on the binding of it! The washcloth is just wonderful. I love the smell of the soap! My favorite though are the hand embroidered napkins she made me. Recognize the cats ?
That's right, she made Kiya and Sigh! Aren't they cute! Grim loved them too!
Last but not least, Emily. I purchased some yarn from her before I left and when I got back it was waiting for me. Girl, you certainly know how to dye your yarn. The coloring is more beautiful than in the pictures! -=applauds=- I love it and if anyone wants nice yarn. Go to her store! That's an order. -=giggle=-
Now for vacation:
Grim, Pounce and I left around 6:30 on Wednesday morning. The drive was surprisingly easy to do. No traffic, not much bad weather. So we made it to my aunt's party in about 8 to 9 hours. It was nice seeing everyone again. It's been nearly 3 years since I have seen my aunts/uncles/cousins in Ohio. So we hung out, had food and chatted for a while. Then we went back to Grandma's house and relaxed for the remainder of the day. The next morning we were up bright and early and off to Columbus for Origins! Yeahhh! We had Learn to Hack - Hackmaster Introduction. It was an awesome class and we got free books to go home with! Yeahh! I rolled up a half-ogre all strength character. Pounce rolled up a Cleric and Grim had a magic user I believe. Then we hit the exhibit hall and went wild on purchasing. -=giggle=- Pounce and I also enrolled in Horror Gaming and Plot Forming. All three of us did a very unorganized leather working class and we played in an awesome Witchcraft (actual name of the RPG) game. I played a total power hungry bitch. Grim played a huge muscle type that ended up sacrificing himself for his sins. Pounce was a feral aka werewolf. Awesome game, that was based on Nightwatch (movie). We bought waaaay to many RPG books. -=giggle=- Well let me change that, I got a lot of game books. -=giggle=- Here's a photo of the overall purchasing.
My dice set is on the left. I went a little nuts. -=giggle=- My favorites are the original artwork products. The dice bag for example and the artwork in the back.
This is Grim's prized purchase. He bought an Origins 2007 Poker set after much deliberation on it.
We didn't game as much as we wanted too but we did meet up with some awesome people/gamers. Neight being one of the most awesome! He ended up hanging out with us for the majority of the time we were there. Talk about a great gamer! All in all it was a blast. We met great people and had a great time. I am going to post videos and pictures over the weekend but right now I am too tired to fiddle with resizing them. We left Sunday at around noon and for some reason it took us around 11 hour to get home. I slept half the way so I am not sure exactly what caused the delay.
Needless to say, with my vacation so packed, I only got two washcloths completed. I didn't read any books but that's okay. It was a wonderful adventure and I fully intend on going next year!
Oh almost forgot. Grim dared me to kiss the cheek of Mark ( One of the designers of Hackmaster). I wasn't going to do it, then Dave Kenzer (Head Designer of Hackmaster) told me he'd give me 5$ to do it. So, my not being one to run away from a dare. I planted a big ole' kiss on his cheek. When he asked me what that was for, I told him and he said.. . " Well I don't think you got me good enough to warrent 5 dollars." So I planted another one on his cheek, took my five dollars and went out to buy the Fairy painting. -=giggle=- Definitely my most memorable Origins experience.
Other than that lovelies. Grim and I have been tearing apart the apartment. We didn't have any place to store all the loot we got. So I went out and bought this:
To accommodate our growing RPG collection. -=giggle=- I am a dork. I know. Of course we also then ripped apart our other bookshelf to make it presentable. Next is the bedroom and the closet. Then I am going to spackle over some holes in the walls.
Anyone have any suggestions on nifty storage ideas for yarn ? I was thinking about keeping it all in the closet but I don't know if I like that idea. What does everyone else use ? I have VERY limited space.
Okay, I am done for tonight. This has taken me about an hour to write up. -=giggle=- Pictures and videos posted soon!
