Small Update |
Sunday, March 22, 2009 |
So the boob holder is officially off the needles. I'm not sure if I mentioned that in a previous post. It turned out rather lovely if I do say so myself. Unfortunately, no pictures yet. I'm waiting on it to warm up enough around here so I can take pictures outside. At that time I will also take picture of the Vixen Cami which I believe I'm going to leave as a tube top. The problem now is finding a tube top to go underneath it. I can't seem to find them anywhere, then again they might not be "in season" yet. Pictures will be posted soon though I promise.
In other knitting news, I'm having a blast knitting up a couple of things for my 1950's swap partner. Since she knows who I am I'm not going to be posting any pictures of those either. Sorry guys, I know it's rather dull but I don't want to spoil the surprise.
The cloche has gotten a million compliment when I wear it out in public. I even had a couple of people who believed I was fibbing when I said I made it. -=giggle=- I was rather proud of myself at that moment. I've come a long way from garter stitch scarfs that's for sure.
So, due to the fact I cleared out yarn from my stash the only natural reaction was to buy more yarn. -=giggle=- $80 worth to be exact. I know, I broke the bank on that purchase but oh well. My excuse is that I was buying myself birthday presents. Pictures to be posted of the yarn soon but in the meantime, I got 2 skeins of Cascade yarn in deep reds, blues and blacks, 2 skeins of this lovely Patagonia Cotton Fingering yarn in greens and browns (to match the Cloche) and some wool yarn in black and grey, which Grim picked out for slippers. He's positively fascinated with the felting process. He never believed that this bag looking thing would turn into the Cloche and beamed with pride when it turned into the lovely hat pictured below.
So I've got the lace scarf still on the needles. Yep, I'm that bored with it. Along with above mentioned 1950s projects. Then I think I'm going to start a skull cap for my friend's birthday along with his fingerless gloves.
Hope everyone is well!Labels: Felting, FOs, Knitting, Update, Yarn |

Why? Because I seem to be busy fighting one. I haven't felt well since Sunday night. Blegh, today I came home at around 11 because my stomach was in a total uproar and would not let me be. I feel a little better now.
Wanted to let you all know a post will come tomorrow (hopefully).
A huge and special thanks to Mary Catherine for sending me beautiful yarn!!! Picture will be posted tomorrow!Labels: Drive By, Sick, Update, Yarn |

A Productive Sunday. |
Sunday, December 30, 2007 |
I have completely emptied out every single email address I have. Boy I was getting behind on those emails. Sorry guys I am a terrible pen pal over the holidays. Then after that I went through and caught up on all the Ravelry group posts ( I was surprised to find there wasn't many). I emailed a couple of people I was interesting in coversating with and then moved onto the next task. Blogs. I went through my entire Friend's list on Ravelry and caught up on all the Holidays News, then I hit my usual reads. After that it was time to start working on my blog. I wanted to add a finished section as well as a Groups and Alongs Section. So I did, then I noticed how difficult I found the font to read. So I figured if it was hard for me, it might be hard for others so I increased the size and made it bold. Does it help at all ?
Now I am blogging before I prepare to get ready to go to my mom's house. We're supposed to help her put together my brother's new desktop. Also, we need to bring over their presents. OMG! I totally forgot to blog about this! My mom got engaged over the holiday weekend. Her birthday is the 21st and her boyfriend of 7 years proposed to her! He set up a suprise party at the place they had their first date. So that got her, then they brought out a hat and started singing Happy Birthday.. Well tied to the hat was a ring and a card that said will you marry me? HOW CUTE IS THAT! So needless to say, my mom is over the moon.
As far as knitting goes, I am making terrific progress on the Tree Jacket. I am planning on bringing it with my tonight to work on while the computer tech (Grim) works his magic. The Cobweb stole is definitely not going to work, I am definitely not skilled enough or patient enough to work that pattern. So I bought another one lastnight. It's the Feather Lace Shawl (link to the right). I casted on lastnight and I think I am going to do well with this pattern. I am using Sublime's Mohair Blend in White. I went to the yarn store, gift card in hand, and got enough yarn to finish the Accidental Drop Stitch Vest (link on right). Finally!! -=giggle=- I also picked up some black yarn for Grim's fingerless gloves, and Lambs Pride Bulky in Black and Neon Green for the Record Bag I want to make. However, now that many are telling me the Stitch'n'Bitch Nation pattern will work, I might just use it for that instead. Lamb's Pride will felt right? I confess I know nothing about felting. -=giggle=-
I am hoping to get a lot of projects completed this new year. I joined A Loose Knit Along, which is dedicated to working on projects for Christmas. That's why I went ahead and picked up the yarn for Grim's gloves. I also jumped on the wagon and joined Project Spectrum. I really want to be more receptive to color and what I can create with color.
I have a whole bunch of goals for the New Year. My number one goal being the EVER so Typical goal of quitting smoking. I want to but at the same time I don't. I know it's bad for me but I enjoy doing it. You know, one of those things.
Any top goals for you guys?
Anyways, I hope everyone has/had a wonderful weekend.Labels: Blogging, Emails, Engagement, Felting, Laptop, Loose Knit Along, Mom, New Year, Project Spectrum, Ravelry, Resolution, Yarn |

As Promised, A Post! |
Sunday, October 28, 2007 |
This weekend was a real joy. Friday night was cram night. I forgot that I had a Biology test Saturday morning so, you know the drill. Lots of coffee, lots of smoking and a late night. Saturday wasn't too bad, if you don't count that I had to wake up at 8 to take a test. I have NO idea how well I did on it. Saturday was also Grim's Birthday. So I put up a Happy Birthday Banner and laid his present out for him so it would be there when he got up. I had already bought him one of his gifts (Game Book for W.O.D) so I decided to get him 28 Days Later, so he would have something to open on his Birthday. The rest of Saturday was pretty laid back. He did a lot of video games and I got a lot of knitting done. Then it was time for game night over at Pounce's house. He got more gifts and got a cake. We got home at about 2 am, more knitting and more video games. Then we went to bed. Today was the family birthday. I got up at 11, about 5 minutes later, I get a call saying we're going to meet up at 2. Oh Shit.. I haven't started the cake yet. So I rush through and do that, while it's baking, I go and redye my hair and start getting ready. All the while I am still trying to get the Birthday Boy out of bed. -=giggle=- We end up meeting up with them about a 1/2 hour late.
Dinner was wonderful (Olive Garden), then we came back here for presents and the cake I made (with over the hill trick candles =P)
I think he had a really nice birthday. I could tell he doesn't like the idea of turning 31 so I wanted to keep it simple and relaxed this year.
I also managed to get through a lot of the Baby Wrap Dress. It's looking really cute so far and I just reached the shaping of the arm holes. I can't wait until it's finished up. By the way, I have come to agree that having a baby is contagious. I went from one baby to knit for, to three babies! -=giggle=- I haven't cast on the Tree Jacket yet only because I got circular needles that have a 24" cord and it says use a cord that 16" or 20". Does it really matter in relation to the pattern?
To go back to what I mentioned earlier, here are a couple of things that are going on:
1. The doctor says that my stomach problems and weight loss are probably directly related to the loss of my gallbladder. Bile production is to high, so it's irritating my innards and causing them to wig out. (How do you like my medical, non-icky version?) I have been given a medicine that I have to drink, Yuck, and regulate based on my digestion speed.
2. They believe Kiya developed an allergy to her food. So we switched it to a prescription digestively helpful food. No problems since. Although that Vet visit, we almost adopted a cat. -=giggle=- Then my brakes went out and I had to get them fixed. I think it was for the best though. 3 cats in our apartment might have been a little scary.
3. I went into the Country Wool Yarn store after my doctor's appointment. This store is in the middle of nowhere and easily a goot 45 minute to an hour drive from my house. (I was in the area for the appointment) So I get there and I do my shopping. I go to grab my debit card and she doesn't take them. Oh no. So I rummage through my bag, no cash and NO CHECKS! Ahhh! I apologize and go to put the yarn back and she tells me, "It's alright, I'll Bill you." Whhhattt? -=giggle=- Turns out she bills locals and hasn't had a problem doing it ever, so I asked her if she was sure. She said yes. How cool was that!?!? The green and purple yarn from the previous post was what I got..
4. The Double Date. -=giggle=-
*A.* There was a lady on her cell phone the whole time.
*B.* Man behind said lady on cell phone, got really loud with her when he realized what she was doing.
*C.* Said Lady's Boyfriend stood up and tried to pick a fight with said, yelling man. I missed about 30 minutes of dialog just from the yelling. What I did catch, was a little sad. The Vampires and concept were cool. The acting melodramatic. The pace a little rushed. All in all, a renter movie. The part that pissed me off about the whole thing. I asked for my money back since, I missed part of it. The dipshit at the counter gave me shit. Argh! I resolved to just not come back again.

Yeah! A Post! (Picture Heavy) |
Thursday, October 25, 2007 |
I seriously have to start keeping better care the blog The problem is that I am getting to wrapped up in reading that I am not knitting and I know you guys like seeing knitting more than personal posts. -=giggle=-
So to start off, YARN!!
This stuff is too lickable and Pounce gave it to me! She had originally bought it to try knitting me a hat and scarf but for some reason she decided against it and gave me the yarn. I would love and adore her for the hat and scarf set but I love her and adore her even more because the 2 black skeins of this are making me a sweater! Not to mention she made me a nifty Dice Bag! Also, Mucho Mucho Thanks to Moontear for the wonderful early X-mas gift. You are too sweet! I also got this yarn for the Tree Jacket Pattern (SKC KAL).

This yarn for the baby blanket.
Cthulhu loves the sheepies and the yarn. He's not evil, I promise. Then the baby also gets a baby wrap in this. Isn't it.. um.. bright? -=giggle=-

My mom bought me this..
The book, not an elder god. -=giggle=- She also got me the Beautiful Knitting Patterns Book. Have I mentioned how much I love books like this? It's awesome how they give you the idea of how to do it and you can go from there. =)
I've already swatched for my Tree Jacket and I plan to Cast on that or the baby blanket tomorrow. Probably the blanket because that's what I should be knitting. Or I'll mix over the weekend. A little of this and a little of that. -=giggle=-
I also wanted to post a picture for a contest on Melissa's blog. The Fake Rhinebeck Picture Contest.
I got some Malabrigo in Mint Green. Some great sock yarn that I can't remember the name of right now! Some Sweet Sheep - Head Vampyre And some Misty Meadows by Knitpicks The little sheepy and Cthulhu also hopped into my basket. =P

Have I mentioned how I had intended to go to Rhinebeck? Did I mention that I had to use the money saved to buy new brakes and rotors? Did I mention how bitter I am about that? I didn't think so. Oh well.. Next year. Next year.
Alright guys, that's it for the yarn. I'll post a couple of interesting points of my week tomorrow. Grim's B-day is this weekend so it's unlikely I will be on much. So to keep you in suspense, the next blog will include:
A. What the doctor said about my tummy. B. What the Vet said about Kiya's tummy. C. What happened at the Country Wool Yarn Store. D. What happened at the Double Date last Friday
Okay, night night all!Labels: Baby Knitting, Books, Cthulhu, Fake Rhinebeck Contest, Pattern, Sweater, Tree Jacket, Yarn |

A Day Late! |
Sunday, September 9, 2007 |
I know, I know I broke a promise. I am sorry all!
Other than working and school, I haven't been up to much lately. No new knitting, although I plan on starting the bag for my HSKS 3 swap soon. The problem is finding the perfect pattern. I believe I have already found the sock pattern that would go well with the yarn I got for her. Pounce, Moontear and I went to my favorite yarn store of all time today for Moontear's Birthday. So I picked up a couple of odds and ends I wanted to throw in the package for my pal!
I also made a purchase for myself. Take a look at this beautiful yarn! It's Hacho by Mirasol. 100% Hand Dyed Merino Wool.

These are eventually going to be made into this. Which works since Pounce is planning on making me a black and turqouise scarf and hat set. It should match wonderfully.
On the work front, I don't know if I mentioned that I had my yearly review and it went very well. I haven't heard anything about a raise yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
School, is going to be a pain this semester but I can handle it. Intermediate Algebra class will be the biggest challenge I have. I am not particularly fond of math and often feel like the dunce of the class. It was helpful that he went over the basics again. He reminded me of the things I had forgotten about. Biology - Environmental Sciences only sucks because it's on a Saturday. I think that working in a company of Environmental Engineers will be extremely helpful if I get stuck on anything.
A lot of people were curious about the sock yarn I was asking about. As much as I would KILL for that yarn. I didn't purchase it. I was just asking so that I would know what I was looking for when buying sock yarn for my pal. I love that particular colorway, I think it's beautiful. Thank you for all your help everyone, I appreciate it!
Oh, I can't lie. I think alot of my knitting time when to watching Deadwood. We got the second season on Friday. Any spare time I have had went to watching that. -=giggle=- What an awesome show!
Alright.. -=giggle=- I can't think of anymore to type at 3:30 in the morning so I am going to leave you for tonight. I'll probably blog more tomorrow when I am not as tired as I am right now.
Night night all!

Pattern Question |
Tuesday, August 28, 2007 |

Also, does anyone know of any non-sock patterns for fingering weight yarn ?Labels: Pattern Questions, Pattern Search, Yarn |

Lining up the projects. |
Thursday, July 19, 2007 |
So I have been flipping through magazines and books looking for new patterns I can try. The result is that I have found a bunch of things that I want to make soon. Here's the list that will probably only get bigger.
- Naughty Needles Bathing Suit
- Zeeby's Bag from Stitch'n'Bitch
- Boogie Time - A wristband watch pattern
- Still on the hunt for a simple knee-high sock pattern.
- An Enterlac Washcloth (I will make one dammit!)
I have also pulled out the poncho again as I believe I mentioned in my last post. I am still a little confused but I am going to work on it this weekend and see what happens. It's my first real wearable item so if it's botched -=shrugs=- I'll cry. -=giggle=- The library has a copy of "Fitted Knits" waiting for me so I am sure I'll find cute patterns in there as well. I have just been dying to try new things, broaden my horizons a bit.
Oh and by the way. Does anyone know how to successful make a ball out of a skein of yarn ?!?! I spent nearly 2 hours untangling the yarn Emily sent me. I know I did it wrong and knotted the hell out of it. Unfortunately that mean that 1 skein, turned into 4 balls because I couldn't get the damn thing to unravel correctly. Mishaps of a knitter, I suppose. In other news I have updated my reading blog again if you want to take a look.
I think that is about it really. Still waiting on the Ravelry invite (in the words of Hedwig) then again, aren't we all ?
