Hello to all those out there in knitter land. It's been a very long time, longer than I realized.

Due to my extended absence I'll provide an update as to why I have disappeared and what I have been up to since my last post.

Knitting has been really slow going. It's not because I have been overly busy but more that I lost my faith in my own abilities. Every project I picked up seemed to go wrong, so I decided not to invest my time and energy into it. I missed knitting a lot but I simply didn't feel up to being disappointed by the outcome again. My clapotis has been my saving grace. I picked up it and started working on it last week. It reminded me how calming knitting is and, most important, how much I love it. So I'm on the first round of section 4 for the clapotis and I won't be posting photos until it's complete. I don't want to boast about it, then something bad happen. Outside of that project, I am test knitting for an online friend but that is on hold until personal situations in her life iron out. That's it for knitting. I am working out a way to turn the tiny shrug into an oversized bag. I just want to get it off the needles. I need to move on.

As far as everything else goes, here's my sum up:

School: Math is going very well for once. I have a teacher that understands my inability to grasp the concept of numbers and he has taken me under his wing. At midterms I had an A in the class. I still need a little bit of an extra push to get myself through graphing but I'll be okay.
Medieval History, is a little harder than I thought. There is a crap ton of things I have to memorize and I didn't do well on the first test. So I'm at a D in that class, I'll bring it up though. All is well.

Work: As of September 22, 2008 I have been there for two years. Nothing much has changed. I've been given a hell of a lot more responsibility and more hours. Now I'm just waiting to hear about my yearly raise. Keep your fingers crossed!

Derby: Alot has changed with Roller Derby. Since my last post I have left the Albany All Stars and joined with The Hellions of Troy. It's one of the best decisions I could have made. I'm not going to go into the details on my I split. All I will say is that the promise made to me in regards to derby was not found in the All Stars but with The Hellions. Oh and I have officially played in a bout (game). The Hellions of Troy played against the Sufferjets of Ithaca. We ended up losing 95 to 115 but it's not a bad loss for most of our team being beginners. We're a start out team and we still have a lot of work ahead of us but we'll be fine. We're hosting Zombie Prom tonight so pictures will be posted soon.

Outside of that I haven't been up to much. Work, School, Derby and Knitting when I find the time. Our new apartment has come together nicely and over the last couple of months it's started to feel more like home to me. Grim and the babies (kitties) are doing wonderfully.

That's about it guys. I hope all is well for you!

Hello to one and all! I finally made it to the land of creative blogging! It's a little past my bedtime but I wanted to post before I called it an evening.

First off, sorry about the huge amount of delays involved. Work and school have been incredibly busy. I tend to post a lot more of my day to day activity at my personal blog. However, most of the blogs are set to friends only. So if you have an account feel free to send me a request!

Then I decided to add the "How to Write your Book and Sell It" class to my Wednesday nights. Both a wonderful and terrible idea at the same time. I really think it's going to help me creatively and assist me on the path to recognizing one of my life-long dreams. I don't care if I become famous, I just want my writings out there. So, starting this weekend, I am diving into the research process. Character development, Plot Outlines, the whole nine yards. I want to get a decent skeleton together so that I can officially move onto the writing process. I'm excited about this!!

Photography wise, most of my photographs can be viewed here. I was a little bummed out on Tuesday. I was really proud of the pictures that I shot (Assignment 3). I thought they would be something the teacher would catch onto. Especially the time one. However, he seemed to only like the picture of Buddha and then overlooked the rest. It was kind of a kick in the teeth on the hardwork I dedicated to this assignment. However, I'm alright with it now. He looks at so many photographs that -=shrugs=- he's seen it all. I guess all that matters is the overwhelming responses I have gotten from my classmates on it.

Now for the knitting!!

The 2 Hour Hand Bag! Both have been completed and are ready to be sent to the welcoming little hands of my birthday girl family members. They were felted by hand and oh.. my..goodness... HOW IN THE WORLD DO PEOPLE DO THAT ALL THE TIME? -=giggle=- I continued doing it to the best of my ability until I didn't care if you saw the stitches or not. So alas, my bags turned out a little fuzzy and shrank a tad. Mostly because I know little girls, and I didn't want to put an exceptional amount of time into felting them when I have no doubt that I am going to be asked to make another one in a couple of months. When they get something hand-made it goes EVERYWHERE with them. Which usually means high rip factor.

Here's a picture of Valerie Brooke's Bag after felting:

See what I mean, a little fuzzy but definitely not felted by a pro. -=giggle=- Next time, I am machine washing these things to a pulp. See how they like it! Brianna's is hanging up, after I stitch on a couple of cute pre-felted hearts (Thanks A.C. Moore) I'll post pictures of that one too.

Has everyone made it over to knitpicks to see their lovely sale? I sure as hell did. -=giggle=- 9 Balls of Ebony Shine Worsted Weight Yarn and 5 of Tidepool Heather Pallet.

The plans:

Ebony Shine Worsted - Snow White or Scoop Neck Vest

Tidepool Heather Pallet - Razor Cami

The colors are pretty basic so I don't think I'll be posting it as Yarn Porn or anything. However, I think I am getting my tax money tomorrow and I definitely am going to buy a couple of skeins of Malabrigo. I have been craving it! I'm addicted. -=giggle=- Other than that, this weekend will probably bring the creation of another Monk Hat (One I'll Keep This Time!), I want to continue on Luis's Scarf (Basic Rib Scarf, Nothing to Really See), and I want to work on Blossom ( I haven't touched it in months). The Tree Jacket is still being punished in the bottom of my knitting bag. I am setting myself a deadline. If I don't work on it in the next couple of week, I'm going to frog it and use the yarn for something else. I don't want to but maybe that will motivate me to get a move on.

On the note of yarn, I mentioned in an earlier Drive-By post that Mary Catherine rocks my socks and got me yarn. Here's a picture of that yarn! Isn't it pretty!!!

Before I put myself and this blog to bed for the evening, I wanted to ask a question. I'm starting to get the Birthday Question. You know, "What do you want for your Birthday?" They're not taking "Knitting Stuff" lightly. So I was curious, what books are out there that you think every knitter should have? Anything specific that, from reading my blog, you think I would be into? I have very few chances to ever get to a book store that it's hard to know what's new and worth the price. Also, can anyone direct me to an inexpensive Swift and Ball Winder? I desperately need one, considering I have been putting off 2 projects because it means I have to wind the yarn by hand.

Longest time it has taken me to wind yarn: 3+ hours
Shortest time: 1-2 hours

I'm not the fastest winder in the bunch. -=giggle=-

One last thing, I swear, I'm going to a Knit in at Barnes'n'Nobles on Sunday! Pictures will be taken and much fun will be had!

The Blog
Wednesday, October 17, 2007
Alrighty, I have posted a meme and my HSKS trivia/picture hunt. Now it's time for the blog. -=giggle=- It's been a while since I have posted. So here goes:

Knitting: I started over on my HSKS 3 bag. I am really going to work on it more tomorrow. I really haven't had the opportunity since I have a Bio paper due on Saturday. The Baby Blanket has been frogged back again. I am not a fan of the yarn I bought, it frays way to easily so I am going to buy some better quality yarn before trying it again. Right now, priority one is the bag since I need to send the package out before the 31st. The Day of the Dead package for Christine is done. I really hope she likes the goodies I found for her. My Movie Swap package is nearly done. I just need to wait on the movie to arrive and I want to throw in a couple more goodies before I ship it out.

Movies: 25th hour with Edward Norton was an awesome movie and I recommend it to anyone. It's a little depressing as most Spike Lee films are. However, it's the first Spike Lee movie I haven't hated, so that's saying something. Bride to Terabithia, I was unimpressed with. Although, I thought it was going to be about something totally different. It's a great family movie but -=shrugs=- typical.

Rock'n'Shock: What an awesome outing that was! We left around last Saturday and got there around 3. We immediatly went to the celebrity area to check out the lines. Here are the pictures I got with some of them.

1. Picture with Tony Todd (Candyman)
2. Picture with Angela Bettis (May, Girl Interrupted)
3. Picture with P.J. Soles (Halloween, Carrie)
4. Picture with Electra and Elise Avellan (Babysitter Twins from Grindhouse)
5. Picture with James Duval (Donnie Darko, May, Independance Day)
6. Picture of Daeg Faerch (Halloween 2007) He wouldn't take a picture with me unless I bought something from his booth. To hell with that I say.
7. Me in adoration of the Freddy Glove
8.The Rock'N'Shock Crew (missing Paul)

I'm planning on doing a meme all about Grim. So I will post his pictures when I do that. He turned into a cute little boy when he met Angela Bettis, apparently he likes her. -=giggle=- So the convention was cool. A little less than what I expected but fun anyway. I ended up buying The best of the Nighmare on Elmstreet T'V Show, Death Proof, Planet Terror and Daywatch. Grim got a Cluthlu Shirt and I also got Freddy vs. Jason Earrings. I think that's it. Well I went to include they're having a Nightmare on Elmstreet reunion that I am going to go to.. I looked it up and weelll.. it's in Texas. The plane tickets would be about 350 a piece. No can do... Le Sigh.
Anyways, on with the blog.. After the convention we went to the concert. Lordi, Dark Funeral (Sucked so bad I won't put up a link, in fact here's a picture of me when they were playing.), Mushroomhead and Type O Negative. Lordi was entertaining and epic. Dark Funeral was a REALLY BAD death metal band, Mushroomhead rocked my socks off and Type O Negative left me unimpressed. I love Type O and something has changed. Maybe Peter Steele, lead singer and bassist is getting to old to hit the low notes he once could hit, maybe he's sick.. all I know is I was unimpressed. Not to mention we were unable to leave the concert hall to smoke, so that sucked too. We finally got out of there at around 3 and anyone who smoked was chain smoking to catch up for missed time. I am exaggerating of course. We got home at 5 and spent all Sunday morning catching up on sleep.

Life: Work is going well enough. I went to the school today and got my registration number for my classes. I am going to be taking another Basic Math course and Literature into Film. It should be fun, well one class should be fun anyway. Guess which one ? -=giggle=- Turns out I have to take Math course from now until Fall of next year, then I get to go back to my Psych courses. Wippie! I still have no idea where I want to go, so I am keeping the idea local until I figure out if I really want to move anyway. Which we might.. On a totally unrelated topic, I went to the smoke shop to pick up cloves. I don't smoke cigs and cloves can only be found at specialty stores. Anyways, they sell cards at this particular smoke shop. When I walked in I found out that every card in the store was free. I grabbed a big bag and loaded up. I have enough cards to cover the next 5 years in birthdays. -=giggle=- Which is good, I am a card nut. I like to keep in touch with friends.

Alrighty, it's 11:36 pm now and I need to get ready for bed. Besides I honestly think I wrote about everything.

Night night all

Lots of Hugs!!

Hello All!
Sunday, September 30, 2007
First of all... It's a toss up for sweater patterns. I like these 4, but I can't decide which one I want to make.

Pattern 1

Pattern 2

Pattern 3

Pattern 4

Decisions, Decisions. However, if I am going to make any sort of progress on the baby items, I really need to concentrate on them alone. So the baby blanket is going to be a basic basket stitch blanket. I was going to try for elaborate but then I decided to be practical. This is a blanket that I want to be able to endure the tests of baby rearing. So sometimes, simply turns out to be the best way to go about things. I ordered the yarn for the dress. It's bright pink and going to look adorable. I am thinking about trying to stitch little flowers along the sides to add a little something to it. I figure even if I don't get it done by the time I see her, it'll be a nice surprise gift later.

In other news, school is going well enough. I hate Saturday morning Biology but I am surviving. I really need to answer the lab questions more completely. I only got a C+ on the first one. Hopefully this last one was filled out more accurately. We had a test today that I was up studying for all night. I think I faired about average on it. Which is exactly what I expect for Biology. My report went well and had all the key points needed. Next on the list is making up the lab I missed. In the math department, I had my first Elementary math class last Tuesday. I LOVE IT! The teacher is sooo helpful and nice. He walks you through everything 3 or 4 times so you really get was he's telling you. Here's hoping this time around math sticks. -=giggle=-

On the work front, I made up all my sick time that I took last week. So I still have one sick day left until the end of December. I was told on Friday that I am also getting a raise. It's nothing huge, only 5% but it's a raise and every cent counts in the long run.

In Media news, I watched The Hitcher (2007) today. Not a bad remake. Probably the only remake that I haven't loathed with all my being. I really need to re-watch the original though. There are a couple of things I remember being cooler in the original. Tomorrow we're going to my mom's house. It's been family weekend for the last couple of weekends. We're also taking my little brother to see Resident Evil: Extinction. I CAN'T WAIT! Apparently my little brother wouldn't go see it without me. I promised him I would take him when it was released so he waited on me to be available. We've gone to see every single one of them together. I also owe him a birthday gift so I'll probably take him to the mall before we go. Rambled a little, sorry about that.

I think that's about it really, I'll leave you with an adorable picture of Sigh. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

A Day Late!
Sunday, September 9, 2007
I know, I know I broke a promise. I am sorry all!

Other than working and school, I haven't been up to much lately. No new knitting, although I plan on starting the bag for my HSKS 3 swap soon. The problem is finding the perfect pattern. I believe I have already found the sock pattern that would go well with the yarn I got for her. Pounce, Moontear and I went to my favorite yarn store of all time today for Moontear's Birthday. So I picked up a couple of odds and ends I wanted to throw in the package for my pal!

I also made a purchase for myself. Take a look at this beautiful yarn! It's Hacho by Mirasol. 100% Hand Dyed Merino Wool.

These are eventually going to be made into this. Which works since Pounce is planning on making me a black and turqouise scarf and hat set. It should match wonderfully.

On the work front, I don't know if I mentioned that I had my yearly review and it went very well. I haven't heard anything about a raise yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

School, is going to be a pain this semester but I can handle it. Intermediate Algebra class will be the biggest challenge I have. I am not particularly fond of math and often feel like the dunce of the class. It was helpful that he went over the basics again. He reminded me of the things I had forgotten about. Biology - Environmental Sciences only sucks because it's on a Saturday. I think that working in a company of Environmental Engineers will be extremely helpful if I get stuck on anything.

A lot of people were curious about the sock yarn I was asking about. As much as I would KILL for that yarn. I didn't purchase it. I was just asking so that I would know what I was looking for when buying sock yarn for my pal. I love that particular colorway, I think it's beautiful. Thank you for all your help everyone, I appreciate it!

Oh, I can't lie. I think alot of my knitting time when to watching Deadwood. We got the second season on Friday. Any spare time I have had went to watching that. -=giggle=- What an awesome show!

Alright.. -=giggle=- I can't think of anymore to type at 3:30 in the morning so I am going to leave you for tonight. I'll probably blog more tomorrow when I am not as tired as I am right now.

Night night all!

An Update and Nominations!
Friday, August 3, 2007
It's been busy since the last time I wrote. That's the only excuse I can give for my absence. Saturday night I ended up coming down with a stomach bug that lasted all the way until Monday afternoon. I didn't eat a full meal after the Mexican dinner I mentioned.

Monday afternoon my friend, Louis, came to visit Grim and I. He had went to Virginia and decided to come out of his way to hang out with us. We insisted that he spend the night. So we hung out and talked about gaming before we decided to play a quick Wraith game. It was fun! Louis's character ended up clocking my character across the face for mentioning his adulterous wife. He was playing a tow truck diver killed in an accident after he caught his wife having an affair. My character paid him back by kick him through a door that turned out to have a Spectre (Really bad evil mean ghost) in it. Serves him right. My character was an Anarchist punk rocker that was shot after attempting to rob an armed man. Much fun was had by all. I seem to always forget how scary that game is.

Blogging has also been put off due to sleep deprivation. I just got a full night's sleep last night. I don't know why I have been so unable to fall asleep but it seriously put a damper on my mood.

Work has been ridiculous and hellishly busy lately. Due to the fact I took Monday off, I have been working through all my breaks trying to make up the time. So that means 4 nine hour days and one 10 hour day (had to stay late). Compared to other drops this might be a laughable complaint but I don't like not having a chance to recollect myself and relax with my lunch.

I did not get the loan. Le Sigh. I found that out on Monday when I was sick... Not a good morning indeed. I have not lost hope to other options but I think I am less optimistic. On the note of money though, I got my Financial Aid in full! It covers all of my tuition and maybe part of my books if I am lucky.

Other than that I think that's really the general update of things that relate to my life at present. Now to hobbies!

Knitting: I have been really lazy and tired lately. Since rib stitch is my worst stitch ever I haven't worked on the Calorimetry. I think I am going to go out tomorrow and get the materials needed for my first pair of socks! It's what I decided to do for the Lifetime of Learning-Along.

Reading: I am getting pretty far into HP #7. I can't wait to finish it. I mean it seems like I am the only one that doesn't know the ending. -=giggle=- I am hoping to get some reading time in tomorrow. I just finished listening to the audio book of "Pride and Prejudice". I'll confess that I loved it, but only because I was listening to it and not reading it. I have come to the conclusion that Jane Austin's work is something I am just never going to be able to comprehend via reading it myself.

Movies: We just watched Blood and Chocolate yesterday. It wasn't a bad movie at all. Of course it was nothing like the book. I liked both for different reasons. The human to wolf transition was beautifully done. am glad that they didn't try and do what everyone else has done. I love the magical element to it. I recommend it to anyone who likes love stories and supernatural creatures!

Nominations:

I was nominated by Teresa for the Creative Blogger Award and now I am going to nominate 5 as well!

4. Rosemary

5. Sheilaz

Alright everyone. I think I am off to bed now. I can't think of anything else at the moment and if I do I'll blog about it tomorrow! Night night!

Friday err... Saturday now
Saturday, June 16, 2007
I shouldn't have taken that 3 hour nap when I got home from shopping. Now I am wide awake. Oh well, it's the weekend and I don't get many opportunities to watch the sun come up anymore. Work was extremely busy this week, hence the lack in blogging. Thursday I ended up staying an hour later and then bringing home timesheets to work on for about 45 minutes to an hour. I went back today and work my butt off only to take more work home with me. I can't really complain, it's overtime and with vacation around the corner I really need it. My manager brought up something enraging though. The president is thinking of going to mandatory summer overtime. Mainly because people work a bunch of overtime, then cut out early when we're busy. He's thinking about making us come in at 7:30AM and stay a half an hour later than we usually do. I don't care about staying a half an hour later, I care about waking up earlier. I told my manager that if he did that, my tardiness was going to increase. She laughed and said she agreed. We'll see where it goes. It's just annoying that we have to be punished because two people can't stay in their damn seats until 5pm.

On a more positive note, I went to the knitting store today. I was on a hunt for cute buttons for Catie's Calorimetry. The ladies there are always so nice. She showed me all the new yarn and we talked for a little while about this and that. I took a leap and asked her if they had fixation, and they did! Not in red but they had 4 skeins in black. I scooped them up and did the math in my head. I think I saved 5 to 10 dollars on shipping by buying them from my LYS. I also wanted to do it because they have been such a big help. The owner is going to do a quick tutorial on sock knitting with me. The regular class is held during my working hours and the weekend class is way too expensive for my budget sooo she is letting me do a crash course for 5$. I couldn't believe it! How awesome is that ?!?! So any yarn I need I am going to check with them first.

Went shopping with my mom today for a bathing suit. I don't think I am going to have this one done before the end of summer, so I needed a back up. It's a cute bikini with a skull and crossbones on the right bra cup and another one on the back of the bottoms. It ties on the sides, around the neck and back. Mom also got me a cover and a new pair of shoes. I mentioned to her that I didn't bring her around so she could pay for everything and she just smiled and said she didn't mind, now I had money for vacation. -=giggle=- My mom has been abducted by aliens.

I went to the library and got "Knitting with Balls" and something about knitting socks while travelling. The sock book was cute, the knitting with balls thing, was a little silly. I have yet to find a single pattern that any man in my life (father, grim, grandpa, etc.) would even register as a maybe. I show some of the patterns to Grim and he just laughs. For instance, a knitted beer holder. Eh ? Nothing says macho like a felted beer holder. I guess I don't see how that is logical.

I think I had other things I wanted to write but at the moment, my brain has stopped. Today we're going to a Ren Fairre (I'll take pictures) and tonight to a friend's house for birthday cake. Sunday we're going to Grim's parent's house for a Father's Day/Catie's Going Away party.

That's it for now dears!

Sigh, Work, Knitting and Misc.
Thursday, May 24, 2007
First, The Sigh Baby... The vet called when I was on my way home from work and Grim got the call. The result came back and the mass was Andocarcinoma. Which, after hunting for it, I can't find anything immediately on it. It's malignant. That's the bad news. The good news is, is that they say they got it all. There was no malignant cells in the facial tissue around the mass. So with a little luck it should all be well. Problem is that once you have cancer, you have a better chance of getting it back. Time will tell, but for the moment, all is well. -=giggle=- I rhymed.

Work.. for lack of a better word.. Sucks. -=giggle=- Just at the moment. It will get better but I seriously got ambushed with an overload of things I have to do solo because my boss is going to be on vacation. The filing will easily take me three hours alone and that's if the phone doesn't ring and if my boss doesn't drop more reports on my desk.

Knitting.. I have finished the handtowel and one washcloth. I am working on the last washcloth for my stepmom before I dig into the set for my mother. No towel, it takes to long and it just annoys me to do the same thing over and over again. I went to the library and checked out the Harry Potter knitting book. It's cute, not much in the way of adult wear but that's to be expected. I plan on making myself a scarf, the socks and a sweater.

On the topic of knitting: Do you think a knitted bikini would actually hold up in water ? I want to knit a bikini from Naughty Needles (the hawaiin one) but I don't want to make it if I can't swim in it. Input ?

Video Games, I went out and bought 2 Harry Potter video games lastnight. The Chamber of Secrets and The Quiditch World Cup game. I looove Harry Potter games, videos, anything really. I have been on a kick lately considering I am listening to the Goblet of Fire on my Ipod pretty much everytime I get the chance too. I also Got the 1st and Last Harry Potter movies. Then of course, Dawn of the Dead. Can't go wrong, Harry Potter and Zombies. -=giggle=-

So there might be the possibility that my mom is going to take me on a cruise next year for my birthday. She knows how much I love traveling. She also knows, I have been dying to go on a cruise since she went on one. So I started looking around, then out of the blue the Stitch'n' Bitch cruise line email gets dropped into my In-Box. I checked it out and ran it past mom. She wants me to call and see what the total amount would look like. She also wants to make sure it's not an "Old Lady Cruise". I doubt it is but I am going to mention the question to the attendant when I call for more information tomorrow. It would be a lot of fun. The bonus to this one, is we wouldn't have to pay for airfare. It ships out of NYC! I am keeping my hopes level though. I never get excited until the day it's supposed to happen. Pessimism at it's best. -=giggle=-

Um.. Blank...

I know there is more I wanted to say but now I can't think of it. That's okay though, I have a three day weekend to think about it and write it all down. I am also going to be updating the buttons and pictures then too. I don't have time at the moment. I have to write up a background for my character, then it's off to bed.
