4:00 am Update - Picture Heavy!
Sunday, September 23, 2007
So game night has been moved from Fridays to Saturdays since I am now spending my Saturday mornings wishing I was dead (Biology Class 10:00 am). That means Saturday evening is dedicated to catching up and updating my blogs. So here we go.. the Update:

The Week in a Nutshell: Monday I woke up at 6 in the morning to get ready for work. As I am moving around I get hit with the worse case of nausea I have had in a LONG time. I call work and tell them that I am going to be late. I need to rest. I wake up at 7, same thing. I wake up at 9, again the sickness. Finally after it happens two more times, I call off sick. ARGH! The rest of the day is spend movie watching and knitting. Of course, random moments of nausea and the deep sleep that only sickness can bring. Tuesday, I am still feeling sick but I drag my arse to work. I work until around 2 then go to the doctor's office. Determination: A low grade version of the stomach flu. Yeah Me! She gives me anti-nausea meds and I am sent on my happy way. The rest of the week was really long. 9 and 10 hour days trying to regain any sick time I can. And Now...

Friday: Lastnight, our friend's band, Sunset Aside had a CD release show. They booked The Brides as an opening act! I was more than excited. I LOVE The Brides. Of Course I love Sunset Aside too. That goes without saying. So anyway... The major problem with the venue, is that this place is TINY. The tables were pushed so close to the stage it was hard to maneuver. It's an eatery/bar/venue. So anyway... The Brides start rocking out and I can't contain myself. I get up and start dancing in the space available. After two songs or so, Grim gets up and starts pushing over tables to make room and I help out. After another couple of minutes, there are others up there dancing. WOOT!! The more the merrier. So I am shouting along, dancing and having a great time. All to quickly it ends and they haven't played my song yet. So I walk up to the stage to ask them to play one more... Grim knows that I can't project my voice well, so he yells out " Play HI!" I sat at the edge of the stage, hands cupped in begging. Julia (Keyboardist) points to me and says play it for her. She's got enthusiasm! The drummer D.W. says, Yea! Valerie wants to hear "Hi!". They talk for a minute about if they have time and then.. THEY PLAY IT!! I could have flown away! I was that happy. Much dancing and fun was had by all. So we hang out for a bit, I snap a couple of pictures. Sunset Aside sets up and starts to play. They were awesome. I love their sound! For some reason, their music reminds me of a Quentin Tarantino (sp?) movie. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay but a half an hour into their set. Like I said, I have class Saturday mornings. So we head out after a couple of songs and Greg, D.W. and Corey (from The Brides) are outside smoking. We chatted with them for a bit before heading home. They are the coolest bunch of guys I have ever met. I mean I knew D.W. was cool, we always chat with him when they're in town. So to continue, Grim and I won't get married for a while, but if we do... The Brides said they would play it!! -=giggle=- Also Greg is an ordained minister. -=chuckles=- He could marry us. From the sounds of D.W.'s wedding, we might just have then organize the whole event for us. Anyways, lots of fun was had by all. Great times, with Great Friends, Great Bands and Drinks!! Here is also a very poorly lit video. Unfortunately, the lighting was also bad.

Saturday: Woke up and spent the entire morning, praying to get struck by lightening. I hate biology or maybe I hate it that early in the morning. From school I went to Goodwill (random stop) and checked out their dress boot selection. I found a pair, MY SIZE, Huzzah! I also managed to find two work blouses and a REALLY cute black lace tank top. Oh add another Plath poetry book and The Notebook by Sparks to the list. Next to E.B Games to return the sucky version of "The Fog" for the awesome version of "The Fog". I love the old one and I HATE the new one. Came home, took a nap, made cookies and went to game... Now here I am.. typing away.

Tomorrow: Family day at Grim's parent's house. I need to get some homework done and more knitting! -=giggle=- OH! Before I forget! A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO ADELE AND JEN FOR HELPING ME WITH MY HSKS BAG PATTERN!! Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

I think that is honestly, all I have right now. -=giggle=- I did add the picture for the Accidental Drop Stitch Vest though. So take a peak!

Okay it took 45 minutes to write all that out.. Time for sleep.

Night night all!!

Alright..Here we go.
Saturday, August 25, 2007
I'll do a run down of the essential elements of the week.

Sunday:
Paulie (Grim's Friend), Grim and myself go visit Grim's Sister in the hospital. Apparently she was admitted Saturday morning. She had a huge lump on her wrist and a couple weird marks on her legs. When she woke up Saturday morning she was having difficulty breathing. When we visited her they still didn't know what was wrong with her. They were really concerned considering she just got back from another country and when she stayed there she stayed in Squats and Hostels. She's not really a hotel sort of traveler. -=giggle=- She looked well when we visited her aside from the fact I think she was on a little bit of pain meds. The doctors seemed to think it was a big bite and an allergic reaction. She didn't agree since the big lump on her wrist happened after the ones on her legs showed up. I don't think they ever figured out what was wrong and they released her Monday morning.

Monday: I do my get ready for work thing. Get in my car and start it up. I notice it's doing a weird shuttering sort of thing and I look up to see the check engine light is on. Shit. So I bring it into the Chevy dealership and my boss picks me up for work. At around 4, I call them to check on it. They haven't even looked at it. So my boss drives me home.

Tuesday: Everything goes along smoothly. I call the dealership a couple of times and they still haven't gotten my car in. Around 2, the service clerk calls me. He tells me that I need two gaskets and my timing belt replaced. I ask him, how much is that going to cost me ? Ready for this ? 1,875 dollars.

I actually went outside and called Grim. Let the tears flow freely. My boss comes out to ask me about a report and I am still in tears. She talks to me for a while then calls her car shop that she has been going to since she was 17. They laugh at the estimate and tell me to bring it in for them to take a look at it. So we go and get my car. The clerk tells me that GM would probably cover a portion of it. That if I stayed, he could do that for me. I
tell him, "Since it's not covered under warranty. I can take my car where I want to now. So no thanks." He says it again, I tell him.. No. I pay for my oil change and inspection and leave. The car place is out in the middle of nowhere but the shop is run by a father and son. The son was very very nice and told me that he would take care of it but it probably wouldn't be until Thursday or Friday. Not a problem. I borrow my mom's SUV for the next couple of days. Note: The car ran fine all the way there and the engine light was off.

Wednesday: Uneventful

Thursday: I come home and get a call from the shop. He tells me that he looked over my car and had his son look over it too. They can't find a single things wrong with it at all. They changed the air filter because it was really disgustingly dirty and they drove it around alot to make sure it didn't act up again. Total: 73.00 dollars. I asked them, what the hell Chevy was charging me for? They told me that they probably couldn't find
anything wrong with it either but I hit the 54,000 miles limit. That means that I am in need up a tune up. So all these things they were saying that I needed was only preventive. I didn't need any of it. I was dancing the rest of the night!!

Friday:
I go and pick up my car. The gentleman tells me that I am going to need to change my timing belt at about 60,000 miles. Other than that, if I have any problems, bring it back in and they'll take a look. He was such a sweet man. He assured me that he looked over every possible plug and valve to make sure everything was in order. He even ran through the program that Chevy uses to diagnose my car. He said they were definitely following the guidelines of a tune-up. When they plugged in to find the distress code (why the engine light was on). Turns out it was a General Manufacturer distress code. The car recognizes you've passes a certain millage and clicks over that you need to service your engine.

$1,875 - $73.00 = $1,802 worth of savings.

-=giggle=-

So that's why I haven't been around. To much stress and not enough drive to actually type all this out and worry myself more.

On another note, Debbie was my shining star on Thursday. She sent me a package for helping her out with trying to find a pattern!!

I have already started the book. It's awesome so far. They just throw you right into the zombie mess. -=giggle=- In case you can't see the yarn is called Head Vampire. I am soooo loving it! -=giggle=- I am thinking about jumping on the site and ordering some more of it as a treat to myself for this stressful ass week.

Alright so in other news...

Knitting:
I haven't worked on anything this week. I think I am going to start a pair of fingerless gloves sometime tonight though. I have been looking through patterns and things. I want to try making a shirt or something. Although I am really nervous about jumping into it. We'll see. First and foremost I want to finish the gloves and the Record bag. The socks are just hanging out in the bottom of my bag. I haven't been inspired to work on them lately.

Reading:
I am almost finished with Rant. Can we say weird? -=giggle=- It's really good, really bizarre but a decent read/listen anyway. Thank You Erika for leading me head first into the world of rabies and party crashers. Thinking on it. I think I know why I like Chuck P. so much. It's because he always makes his own little sub-culture. I mean you have Fight Club which is self explanatory. Then you have Party Crashing. People dress up and dress their car up for an event(wedding, student driver, anniversary, etc.) then they all crash into eachother. -=giggle=- That was of course the condensed version.. If you want to know more, read the book. The next title on my listening agenda is Scanner Darkly. Good movie, I am hoping that the book will be good as well.

Media:
Netflix has started us on Deadwood. After only watching 5 minutes of it. I think it looks damn interesting. -=giggle=- Supernatural is available September 11th! I can't wait. I love that show. I have also been watching a lot of X-Files lately.. Believe it or not, I have never seen that show. I also got the pleasure of seeing "The Producers". What a funny movie! -=giggle=-

Well I think that about sums it up. I"ll be back tomorrow. Tonight we're heading out to the fair with a bunch of friends. Tomorrow is family day.

Talk to you soon!

An Update and Nominations!
Friday, August 3, 2007
It's been busy since the last time I wrote. That's the only excuse I can give for my absence. Saturday night I ended up coming down with a stomach bug that lasted all the way until Monday afternoon. I didn't eat a full meal after the Mexican dinner I mentioned.

Monday afternoon my friend, Louis, came to visit Grim and I. He had went to Virginia and decided to come out of his way to hang out with us. We insisted that he spend the night. So we hung out and talked about gaming before we decided to play a quick Wraith game. It was fun! Louis's character ended up clocking my character across the face for mentioning his adulterous wife. He was playing a tow truck diver killed in an accident after he caught his wife having an affair. My character paid him back by kick him through a door that turned out to have a Spectre (Really bad evil mean ghost) in it. Serves him right. My character was an Anarchist punk rocker that was shot after attempting to rob an armed man. Much fun was had by all. I seem to always forget how scary that game is.

Blogging has also been put off due to sleep deprivation. I just got a full night's sleep last night. I don't know why I have been so unable to fall asleep but it seriously put a damper on my mood.

Work has been ridiculous and hellishly busy lately. Due to the fact I took Monday off, I have been working through all my breaks trying to make up the time. So that means 4 nine hour days and one 10 hour day (had to stay late). Compared to other drops this might be a laughable complaint but I don't like not having a chance to recollect myself and relax with my lunch.

I did not get the loan. Le Sigh. I found that out on Monday when I was sick... Not a good morning indeed. I have not lost hope to other options but I think I am less optimistic. On the note of money though, I got my Financial Aid in full! It covers all of my tuition and maybe part of my books if I am lucky.

Other than that I think that's really the general update of things that relate to my life at present. Now to hobbies!

Knitting: I have been really lazy and tired lately. Since rib stitch is my worst stitch ever I haven't worked on the Calorimetry. I think I am going to go out tomorrow and get the materials needed for my first pair of socks! It's what I decided to do for the Lifetime of Learning-Along.

Reading: I am getting pretty far into HP #7. I can't wait to finish it. I mean it seems like I am the only one that doesn't know the ending. -=giggle=- I am hoping to get some reading time in tomorrow. I just finished listening to the audio book of "Pride and Prejudice". I'll confess that I loved it, but only because I was listening to it and not reading it. I have come to the conclusion that Jane Austin's work is something I am just never going to be able to comprehend via reading it myself.

Movies: We just watched Blood and Chocolate yesterday. It wasn't a bad movie at all. Of course it was nothing like the book. I liked both for different reasons. The human to wolf transition was beautifully done. am glad that they didn't try and do what everyone else has done. I love the magical element to it. I recommend it to anyone who likes love stories and supernatural creatures!

Nominations:

I was nominated by Teresa for the Creative Blogger Award and now I am going to nominate 5 as well!

4. Rosemary

5. Sheilaz

Alright everyone. I think I am off to bed now. I can't think of anything else at the moment and if I do I'll blog about it tomorrow! Night night!
